Series Circuit Summary

GCSE Physics

A circuit is a loop of wire with its ends connected to an energy source.

GCSE Physics

One end of the wire is connected to the positive terminal; the other end of the wire is connected to the negative terminal.

GCSE Physics

Series circuits have all their components connected in one loop of wire.
For example:

Series Circuit X

Series circuit with cell and lamp.

Series Circuit Y

Series circuit with cell and two lamps.

GCSE Physics

If one component in a series circuit fails, then all the components in the circuit fail.

GCSE Physics

A series circuit has just one current.
