New Stars

The word "nova" means "new star". Throughout history, there have been many recorded cases of new stars appearing in the sky, only to fade and disappear a short while later. Some of these new stars could be seen for several months and some could be seen even in the day.

We now know these "new stars" to have been exploding stars or supernovae.
