GCSE English

Verbs

A verb is a word that allows us to indicate actions or states,
e.g. The pianist is happy today. He had played the piano.

Both is and played are examples of verbs. Verbs really are fabulous words - without them we would not be able to describe anything that was happening!

In reality they can be really complicated. Verbs are used differently depending on who or what is doing the action, or being a certain way.
