French Verbs

Verbs are words that describe actions or states.
Of course, we use verbs in English as well!

Regular Verbs

There are three types of regular verbs: those ending -er, -ir and -re.

The endings of these verbs follow a regular pattern. Remove the -er, -ir, or -re from the infinitive and add the correct ending.

Irregular Verbs

Unfortuately there are some verbs which do not obey simple rules. Verb tables for these are included in this section - inevitably you will have to try to learn most of these!

avoir

aller

vouloir
pouvoir
devoir
sortir

dire
lire

écrire
boire
conduire
recevoir

venir
mettre

connaître
envoyer
