The 1998 Data Protection Act helps prevent misuse of personal data. Most businesses must register as users.

People who the data is about are called data subjects, who have various rights.

The Computer Misuse Act 1995 aims to prevent hacking and virus-writing.

Hacking means to gain unauthorised access to computers or software.

Copyright Law applies to material on a computer, including websites.

You must credit the source of copyright work if you make use of it.
