Answering Further Algebra

Let's see how you got on:
  1. 6(2x - 3) = 42
    Divide both sides by 6: (2x - 3) = 7
Lose the brackets and add 3 to both sides: 2x = 10
    Solve: x = 5
  2. 5(4 - y) = 20
    Divide both sides by 5: (4 - y) = 4
    Drop brackets and add y to both sides: 4 = 4 + y
    Solution: y = 0
  3. (12 + b) ÷ 3 = 7
    Multiply both sides by 3: (12 + b) = 21
Lose brackets and subtract 12 from both sides: b = 9
