AQA Science: Glossary - Data & Datum

Data refers to a collection of measurements.

For example: Data can be collected for the volume of a gas or the type of rubber.

e.g. Bob, Becky and Bill's data was a collection of measurements to do with the internal shape of a box.

Datum is just the singular of data.

e.g. Bob's measurement of the height (9 cm) is a datum. This term is not really very widely used, so don't worry too much about it!
