Resistance & Length

Resistance increases if the length is increased. This simple relationship is used to make variable resistors.

It can be shown that resistance is directly proportional to length or:
R is directly proportional to l

You may have carried out experiments investigating this! We could also write:
R = K x l

Where K is a constant that depends on the type of material and its other dimensions.
