Neutron Star Rotation

Another characteristic of neutron stars is that they spin really quickly - up to 600 times per second! This is because a neutron star is so small at its axis.

To make a comparison, if an Olympic figure skater wants to spin really quickly, she draws in her limbs so she's as small as possible at the axis of her spin.

The same applies to stars - ask any figure skater!
