Transformer Equation

We've seen that voltage can be transformed by either being increased or decreased and that this depends on the number of turns on both the primary and secondary coil.

The relationship between primary voltage (Vp), secondary voltage (Vs), the number of turns on the primary coil (Np) and secondary coil (Ns) is given by:
The Transformer Equation ... Vp/Vs = Np/Ns

It is also possible to "flip" this equation on its head, which can sometimes be more useful:
Alternative Transformer Equation ... Vs/Vp = Ns/Np

Let's see it in action!
