Possession Answers

GCSE English Pencil

Written correctly:

2. "Strawberry's - only £2 a punnet."
becomes "Strawberries - only £2 a punnet."
This is a simple mistake, there being more than one strawberry and no possession needed.

3. "The armies tanks had run out of fuel."
This is confusing: there could be more than one army! Possible answers:
"The army's tanks had run out of fuel."
or "The armies' tanks had run out of fuel.".

4. The roads surface was cracking up under the weight of the lorry.
The road's surface was cracking up under the weight of the lorry.
The roads' surfaces were cracking up under the weight of the lorries.

5. The pupils pen ran out before the end of the exam.
The pupil's pen ran out before the end of the exam.
The pupils' pens ran out before the end of the exam.

Remember that with plurals we drop the 's to a single ' to avoid silliness.

If you made it this far - well done!
