GCSE German

Speaking in Detail

Fresh air!

Hast du Geschwister?
(Have you got any brothers or sisters?)
is another very common question.

Try to extend your answer by including the names:

"Ich habe einen Bruder, der John heißt."
(I have a brother called John.)

"Ich habe eine Schwester, die Sally heißt."
(I have a sister called Sally.)

"Ich habe zwei Brüder, die John und Philip heißen."
(I have two brothers called John and Philip.)

Note that der/die in the sentences above translate as "who".

Let's move on. The examiners are much more interested in hearing about character and how well you get on with each person than they are in hair and eye colour...
